Out of surgery
Anna is out of surgery. The doctors were able to do the three things they were hoping to do. Anna's pulmonary veins are very abnormal, making it difficult for her lungs to function. She has been put on an ECMO machine which will act as her heart and lungs while her heart and lungs try to heal. Please pray that Anna's body will react positively to the help she received in surgery, and that the ECMO machine causes no damage. Please also pray for Matt and Alissa...that they will experience a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Awesome answer! Not a 15 hour surgery! That's a big plus. Continuing to pray .....
ReplyDeletePraying, praying, praying!!! So happy to hear she is out of surgery and look forward to more days like today-full of good news!
ReplyDeletePraying for healing for Anna, comfort & strength for you, & hoping for continued positive things for your family.

Baby Anna has been on my heart and in my prayers all day. Thankful to hear she's out of surgery and that the objectives for the surgery were met. This will be a back and forth, up and down journey, but in all things God is faithful. I have 20-month old triplets and one of my boys had two surgeries at Seattle Children's. Just wanted to say we were extremely pleased with the staff and our experiences there - little Anna is in good hands!
ReplyDeletePraying for your sweet, beautiful baby girl! Thank you for sharing your story and your bold trust in God's faithfulness. Praying for His peace to flood your hearts again and again tonight.
ReplyDeleteOur God is Huge!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the surgery seemed to go well! I will be praying everytime I think about you guys-which has been A LOT here recently! Praying for wisdom for doctors, healing for Anna, peace and God's prescence for all of the family.

Praying much for Anna Joy and you all today. I heard about your story on King 5 and joined the blog. Praise God that her surgery went well, and for your trust in Him at this time. I'm mother to 4 girls, the youngest Brielle (meaning "God is my strength") was born at 25weeks gestation and has been through many surgeries and procedures and many months in the hospital. But her life is a gift, as is Anna's - precious.
ReplyDeleteAs I take care of my critical care patient tonight I can't stop thinking about your beautiful little baby! My thought and prayers are with you all night! To God be the glory!!! - Bev Lohrman
ReplyDeleteAlissa and Matt,
ReplyDeleteI heard about your story from someone at the church, then watched your KING 5 interview. I've been praying for you all since hearing about it, and will continue to pray. Thank you so much for sharing your story--God is good, and there IS purpose in all this.

Matt, I found this great blog post from someone who was describing his OWN ECMO treatment as an infant. http://philmont.wordpress.com/2010/11/24/extracorporeal-membrane-oxygenation/
ReplyDeleteI hope you find it encouraging!
Matt,
ReplyDeleteMuch love coming your way! I loved reading your last post, it sounds just like the way I remember you talking. Anyway, it goes without saying how much we are earnestly praying for all of you. I don't think you can even begin to understand the range of emotions you are experiencing unless you are a parent. As a father of four (2 boys 2 girls), it becomes so real, and we are just overwhelmed with your story. Anyway, now I'm rambling...and you're tired of reading...say "hi" to Joe (haven't seen him in a while) and know that we are entrenched in prayer for you. Blessings....

Praise God! Praying for Mom and Dad to have the strength they will need to prepare for Anna Joy's surgeries. Also, praying Mom and Dad get the rest they need to prepare for the days to come!
ReplyDeletePraise God the surgery is done. Thank you Jesus for your hands upon Anna and the surgeon's hands. Praying now in the name if Jesus for a miracle of healing and no future ailments. Thank you Lord for your mercy... with love,
